Walser Heritage Museum
This museum displays a wide variety of local artifacts that gives a rich cultural history of our region. Learn more about the history the people and customs of Kleinwalsertal. On Wednesdays you can get a first hand look at the making of a “Chranz,” the traditional headdress of young women in Kleinwalsertal.
Walserhaus Ski Museum
A must for sports enthusiasts, this exhibition is located in the second floor of the Walserhaus and provides a look at the development of alpine skiing from 1905 – 1940. Free of charge.
Walser Historical Tour
This guided tour takes you on a fascinating journey through the colorful history of Kleinwalsertal, complete with walks through some 40 buildings that have withstood the test of time. They are scattered throughout three villages. You’ll follow narrow, color-coded pathways complete with historical markers that describe significant events in the rich tapestry of our region.
Breitlachklamm
This unique natural wonder is a must see whether in summer or winter. And the greater the volume of water flowing through this narrow canyon, the more spectacular the experience. In the winter the waterfalls and fast-running streams transform into unforgettable, fantastic ice formations.
Alpine Nature Trails
Numerous trails are marked with signposts that tell you more about natural and historical events in our valley. You’ll discover the unique feeling of walking barefoot through a moor or learn more about the meadow flowers that adorn the Walmendingerhorn. The Zaferna discovery trail offers a fascinating insight on snow, avalanches and avalanche protection. The Alpweg trail is an informative look at business development in the mountains.
The Butterflies of Kleinwalsertal
Several years ago, a project was established to research and document the butterflies of our valley. 87 species have been discovered so far including one that was last documented in Vorarlberg in 1923.
